I have a 92 F-250 and am curious about the recall hubub. I did a search and people are talking about both a cruise control problem with leaking brake fluid igniting and an ignition switch problem.
Under the recall notices my 92 is not listed... what gives?
What should I be worried about? I want to be prepared if I have to take it to the dealer.
The 92 does not have the brake pressure switch on the master cylinder, so the cruise control recall does not apply. I'm not sure about the ignition switch recall, though.
I wish Ford would just give me the part, I don't think I'll ever get around to getting my truck to a dealer. I do all my own work, it never sees a garage.
I've already disconnected the electrical connection from the part in question, I don't miss cruise control.
That picture is not correct. The plug on the MC is for low fluid level. The Switch in the recall is on the drivers side frame rail by the RABS unit. It looks just like an electric oil pressure sensor screwed on to a t fitting in the brake line.
All they do at the dealer is plug in a special adapter to the existing sensor.
It took them all of 5 minutes on my truck.
actually, the picture was correct for the comment. what he said was that if your master looked like the picture, you did not have to worry about the recall.
You can have that exact MC and have still have the recall. Thats the MC that my 93 has and i had the recall. The master has no relation to whether or not you need the recall.
I would contact ford and have them run the VIN if you are unsure if you need the recall.
And as far as i know the cruise system and the recall have nothing to do with the master. And the wires running from the master are for low fluid level like i said before, and they have nothing to do with either system.
Im not meaning to be rude by any means, i just want to make sure the guy gets help
Milwaukee and transport i dont want to offend yall, i just went in loops with ford about getting the recall on my truck and in the process learned some stuff.
i did give my vin to the ford website and it listed nothing for my truck... i had been wondering if the company was trying to cheap out at the expense of fringe model years.
