1965 f100 problem

A friend has a 1965 swb f100 2wd truck. Recently both right and left turn signals and both brake lights stopped working. He has all of the running lights working. No fuses are bad . Wiring is in tact. What could be causing this?

also check under the steering wheel, the power wire for the brakes runs through the indicator switch, mine was replaced at some point and the PO did a bad job with conections. Good luck

Normally I suggest starting at the rear of the truck. The turn signals and brake lights share the same bulb filiment. Since both sides stopped working at the same time, I agree with the others that the issue is likely in the cab.

An ice pick type circuit tester will work well diagnosing the problem.

Thanks. I tested the brake switch by disconnecting the switch and used a wire jumper w/ ignition on and off and no brake lights at all. I did a visual inspection and found no visible problems. Next I will look at the turn signal switch. Is there a way to test it other than just replacing it?

no lights

Pull your steering wheel off. I'm not sure if it was just mine, but there was a screw through the switch. I tightened the screw and it mad contact and all is fine. there may be a contact problem in the switch, but you'll have to pull the wheel off.

Check the firewall pass through connector. I had a brake light problem and it turned out that most of the pin to cup connectors were corroded so badly that I was suprised anything worked.
