Pop- I notice your bypass filter sticks down quite a ways, do you have any concerns over damaging it in a low ground clearance situation? How about damage from flying road debris?
You're right, Chase, but with the screen capture utility you can capture small portions of the screen display without having to get the entire display, which is normally what I need for a lot of the kinds of graphics work I do both at work and at home.
Excellent question about road debris, too....

However, I've considered making a stone shield to mount in front of it. Since I usually am not off-road, it's not a huge priority. Since I keep a spare on-board, I could just field-replace it if it were punctured and leaked.

I'm with Marv on this one, too, but with my OG system, I can swing the filter up horizontal which keeps it from hanging down at all... pics in my gallery.
Also, the steel housing OG provides is super heavy duty... something like 1/8" thick material with extremely heavy duty machined threads at the top where it screws into the billet filter head. I think someone would have to shoot it with a rifle at close range to penetrate that bugger, and even then they would have to be dead on center or the bullet would simply ricochet.

Is there a shorter/smaller equivalent filter that could be used? Service intervals would likely be shorter, I understand, but for me that possibly be an acceptable trade-off.
I'm wondering if the base & bracket from ITP's Fuel Tank Kit (Hutch mod) would work in this application as well...
If the filter Pop spec'd out would work on that base, then I may see if I can get that bracket from Dennis at ITP. I've got this kit, and I'm thinking that an "integral stone shield" could be welded on to it... maybe I'm overthinking or being paranoid, but I bought my 7.3 for the famed durability... I kinda like to overbuild things a bit!
I think I'll be heading to a Parker store for some fittings by this weekend. I wish I knew of a store that carried the Baldwin stuff locally so that I could play around. Fleetpride.com wants you to login and I dont' have one for that site.
Pop - I can't find a micron rating for any of those Baldwin filters. Would you happen to have that detail?

ITP's kit uses a Baldwin fuel filter base, which is probably a model FB1311. This base uses a 1"x14 thread, and can use a lot of Baldwin water-separator filters: BF957, BF957-D, BF1212, BF1249, BF1252, BF1258, BF1259, BF1282, BF5801, BF5812, BF7557, BF7558.
So ITP's kit won't allow the use of the bypass filter series, which have much smaller threads, 5/8x18.
FleetPride sells the Baldwin OB1305, and they're all over the U.S.

I did find the difference in threads... rats. I'll keep looking though.... hmmm...

None in CO though, but there is one in Tucson, so maybe when I get there I'll do this mod. Or I'll just have to find another Baldwin dealer that will let me play around with their stock a little. Or a catalog!!! yeah, I remember what those are! Old-school paper version of the Internet!! Yeahhh....
question for you about the adapters, etc. you have listed for your bypass.
What does 2021-2-4S NPT/JIC FL ST mean? I'm looking on the web, and I'm guessing FL = female in your lingo? Yes?
NPT - National Pipe Thread; an industry standard
2021-2-4S... part number or can that be broken down in to something I'd understand, given that I know very little about thread sizing, etc.
thanks in advance! you are a wealth of knowledge my friend!
