Are you saying that between Kelly and Cooper, the Coopers were the only ones made in the USA?

The Michelins I run were made in the USA. Pricy? Yep, but they last for what seems like forever.

Please keep us posted on how well the Coopers are holding up for you.

LaredoF350 -- I've read quite a few complaints about the AT2's. I recently noticed they now have an MS2 so I guess the MS will go the way of the AT. I sure hope not.

Had a couple of sets of the michelin lt ms's on one of my other trucks, they handle the weight well and lasted o.k., but they are soft rubber and wore out after 20,000 miles though. Heavy duty tire though I carry a lot of weight and have no complaints but they are pricey I guess you get what you pay for.

These are the tires I'm planning on getting for the Excursion next time around. I'm glad to hear you're liking them.
Michelin LTX M/S2 2wd&autoModClar=

I currently have the Pirelli STRs and have about 40,000 miles on them. I've been satisfied with them so far.

We have E range Firestone Transforce HTs on our 1 ton van and have been very happy with them.

They'll hold up fine. The truck already had the exact same Cooper tires when I bought it. The tires didn't have much tread left when I got the truck and that was 20K miles ago. They just won't wear out and I'm tired of waiting and got new tires to improve traction. The truck has 109K miles so I am guessing that was the second set of tires and I just bought the third. I have family members that use Cooper all the time with no trouble. I will post if I do have an undesirable experience but I don't expect that.

I did some searches on this site and the info I found made me think that only Cooper and Kelly are still manufactured in the US. The local tire store backed up that idea as well.

That's cool! Good to hear good reviews about the Coopers.

I guess I was also wondering about how many miles it took them to get to the "not much tread left" stage.

Sorry, I don't know. I bought the truck with something less then 90K miles (can't remember exactly). The truck did mostly highway miles with a 5th wheel.

I think people can get mixed up between what is an American Company and what is made in America.

I had nothing but problems with the Cooper tires I've had over the past couple years. 6 bad out of 8 and the tire shop is a pain to deal with so I'm currently driving around with a tire with a cracked sidewall and the dealer never got back to me to replace it. If it blows and someone gets hurt they and cooper better have there premiums up to date. Don't get hung up on tire manufacturers or where the tires made. Dealer service and overall tire quality is whats important. I will just say I've spent a lot of time at the local Cooper dealer getting my tires warrentied and saw a surprising number of people come in with bad Coopers. Just sharing my experience.

that michelin ltx ms/2 looks like a great highway winter/rain tire as well.
I just wish there were more tire options for just a size larger.
like the 285/75/18
or the 295/70/18
These trucks with the stock size just looks too small and the OEM conticraps rubber gets so hard they really slip in the rain.

Cooper had to give my buddy a new set of tires because of cracked sidewalls.

Do you know which tire and about what size he had?

All mine started cracking within 6 months, no dry rot. All at the same spot (butress I think its called) at the raised strip about 3/4" from the rim.

Cooper makes a lot of tires for a lot of companies under a lot of names and I think they bought General the other year also. They are probably getting too big for their own good and putting out more junk.
