I checked it with a meter. Anything else under the hood to buzz with the key on?
Yes theres a little air pump thing not far from the GPR.
I just noticed mine doing that yesterday.
It sounds just like you described and it seems to quit like its on a timer?
Its got a wire to it and some hoses sticking out of it.
Does the air pump gome on every time the key is on? I have voltage on the large terminal accross from the 12+constand for around 20 sec after startup and the other 3 have voltage while the engine is running. That is how it's suppost to be right???
That sounds right. The vacuum pump will come on and make a noise similar to what you're describing. It's on the passenger side fender and looks kind of like it might be an air filter or some type of container. Pop the hood before you start the truck next time, then check to see what's making the noise when you turn the key on. If it's the GPR you should be able to feel a vibration, if it's the vacuum pump, you can tell by leaning down close to it and listening.
To see if the GPR is being turned on, you need to put one probe of the meter on one of the little terminals, and the other probe on the other little terminal. When engergized, that should read around 12 volts. The air pump would come on every time you have the ignition on it you have a leak, or untill it makes enough vacuum to shut off. If you can, turn the key on, go under the hood, and see were the noise is coming from. If it is the vacuum pump, like said above, its on the passenger side, behind the battery.
Yeap, Chris and Blaine are right. Only one of our trucks has that flap of insulation, and thats were its hiding. Do you have a floor shifter tcase? Or push button. If the vacuum pump is continuously running, Id dare to bet you only have the defrost option. Not the floor, or vents. Which would mean you have a leak on the vacuum side of things.

It is two wheel drive. It kicks off not long after starting.
