Exhaust Question

Ok, so im going to do dual exhaust with rear exit and i am just stuck between Cherrybomb Glasspacks or Flowmaster Original 40. I dont know which ones to choose. And also how far back should the muffler be placed but i still want to put i chrome tip on and keep it as loud as possible.....but at least halfway legal Thanks

well glasspacks depending on how long or short you get can achieve this. also Cherry Bomb has the Cherry Bomb Extremes. they are a single chamber muffler. basically the brother to the Flowmaster 10 series. they run about $51 a piece. or you can get the IMCO Extreme (same thing made by the same people) for about $29.

GlassPacks have got my vote again.. They are about 20-30bux a peice. I dont know how your shops run but new Dual glasspacks run 175-250 around here. They are the best sound you will get for a low budget.
Just food for thought. If you want the NOISE. Think about some side exit pipes befor the back tires.. I am Well Pleased and Estatic over my new exsaust. I havent trnd the stereo on but like 3 times since Xmas.

My exhaust is from the previous owner, and it is 2.5" I believe (Haven't measured) 460 w/ Long tube headers, running 2.5" to Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers, exiting out the side before the rear tires.

It's noisey, no cross over or X-pipe, so it isn't a low burble, there is more of a pop at idle. I sure wish I could hear it with a Cross over pipe. It goes from Doscile to Demented when I open all four holes though.

it should have. example: on my vavle cover it says "CATALYST" meaning it came with a catalytic converter. even though the previous owner took it off and installed the Flowmaster.

As for the Cat, it depends on what state you are in and what year. My 77 has basic smog stuff but no Cat.

I've got dual 44" Blue Streak Glass packs with chrome tips on my truck. They exit behind the wheel (which does cause a problem with the spare tire since I up sized the tires from original.) They have a nice throaty rumble without destroying relations with my neighbors or the police! :-)
