exhaust configureation

Couple of questions
1. which is better a true dual system or systemwith a croos over a one muffle with two tailpipes
2. Should i let my tailpipes exit at the back of the truck or bring them out the sides.
If i bring them out the sides where should do it at in front or behind the tires.

True dual with H or X pipe is the best, as for where they exit it's all personal preferance.

well, picture two pipes side by side. and then put a piece connecting them in the middle to form an H. it evens out the exhaust pressure between the two pipes. the X is the same just in the shape of an X

Just one thing about where the exhaust exits. If it exits in front of rear wheels and if you drive in temps below freezing the exhaust will condensate on aluminum wheels and after an extended period they will turn green. In Canada most 97's with the exhaust exiting in front of rear wheels have converted to behind for this reason.
