E40D slipping in reverse

E40D slipping in reverse
To make a long story short. I got my truck stuck in the snow on a unimproved road to go ice fishing. Needless to say after many times going forward and reverse it started pucking trans fluid so i shut it off and called for help. The next day i went back and started it up and no fluid leaked until about 30 minutes of forward and reverse so my dad and i kept pouring fluid in it until the trucks trans started to slip.. After 5 gallons of fluid we had to try somthing else. So my dad and i snowblowed a path 3/4 of a mile to the maintaied road so my dad could go back in there and pull me out. So we tore the trans all down and put a new seal in it. There no more leaks but it shifts sort of sloppy in the foward gears and slips really bad in reverse. It's a E40d trans with 193,000 miles on it with a 460..What do you guys suggest i do?? Can i rebuild it myself and how would i go about redoing it?? Would a 5.8 e40d trans bolt up to it??

If you have alook at the transmission page on here there is a huge amount of information on rebuilding the E40D. There was even a guy offering to email a manual.
