1996 Exp Sport - Wipers STUCK!

Hi All,

I have a 96 exp Sport, and I turned my wipers on this morning, and they went all the way up, but then stopped.

it's been cold, haven't driven her in a few days, and lots of snow and ice out, so I thought maybe somewhere in the linkage, it is seized up via the ice? or cold? - it's never done it before.

I just had the linkage replaced last year - maybe the guy that did it, didn't lube it correctly?

I know it's not a fuse, because I can see them try to move, and you can see the motor move slightly, trying to make them move, so I know it's not the motor or the fuse...

Does anyone have a diagrahm of the linkage, and thoughts on where the problem is there? are the cowls easy to remove? - it's 20 outside :-)

is the motor easy to pull, just to see if that would free it, etc... I'm stuck here - no pun intended. - don't want to drive in this weather with no wipers!

Thanks for any and all input here

Had the same thing happen a couple years ago with our 96 Explorer turns out the drain inside the cowl was clogged with debris, when it rained and then got cold we had a block of ice. Cure was to get it inside a heated garage for several daysto thaw things out, and clean out the drain to prevent a repeat.

You may have the same issue.

I was going to pour some of that de icer washer fluid down in the cowls, and seeif that will free it up - we have had a ton of ice here, and then snow, and it sat for a week outside, so I'm hoping that's all it is.

Thanks

Probably ice from sitting out. If not, you may need to replace the hi-lo and/or run-park relays. At least that was my experience.
