Wheel Swap

I've been needing tires for some time now, but honestly I just didn't have the $$ to drop $800-$1000 for new ones. So after searching for a decent set of used ones for while and comming up empty, I finally found a set on Criag's List that included tires and rims. I never really thought about changing rims, but I actually like the bullet style better than the Lariat style.

Before...

After...

For $400, I think I made out pretty well; esp since the tires have about 75% tread left on them.

I think you did pretty well with $400.00. Those rims really look nice. The last time I had my oil changed at the local tire shop I had him price me a new set of Michelins. I was in sticker shock, it would be almost $1000. A lesser off brand was around $700. I told my wife to start saving her money, I hope to get through the summer with what I have.

I got mine for $800 or so at Sams Club. Alignment at Firestone was about $60-70.

Point is, shop around.

What tires have worn the best on these Excursions. I need to replace the rubber on mine. Can you help suggest something. How many miles have you guys gotten out of your LTX's?

The set I had prior were Michelin LTX M/S and they were about 50% worn when I bought the X, I put an additional 65K on them. I would say they lasted a good while, but should have been replaced sooner.

The used tires I bought are BFG Rugged Trail T/A. They are a little more aggressive than the Michelins and have a bit more humm. I know other that have have them and they have been happy. We'll see how these last.
