Is any one as sick of this guy as I am?. You cant turn the TV on without being assaulted by him hawking at least one of the following items,
"Mighty mend it"
"Mighty gem it"
"Mighty putty"
"Oxyclean"
"The big city slider station"
"Leakender 2000"
Some remote "clap on" light switch
various kitchen gadgets
Simonize car scratch removal system
The list goes on and on. He drives my Wife and I nuts. Does every sentence of his commercials have to rhyme? Now our local Target store has a section devoted to the crap he hawks on TV, You know its good if it has Billy Mayes picture on it!, Its REALLY good if it has his picture on it twice!. Does anybody buy this stuff? I actually got Mighty putty as a gag gift, never opened the box....Hes got to be the most irritating personality on TV, followed VERY closely by the "Shamwow" guy. I thought that commercial was a joke the first I saw it! some type of comedy skit, kept waiting for someone from the SNL crew to interupt it. I think this crap is why my TV spends at least 8hrs a day in the OFF position. If this kind of advertising is supposed to part me from my money, they got the wrong formula, sorry Billy.....anybody else got thoughts about this stuff?

He has gotten pretty annoying lately, but the commercials are pretty amusing the first few times you see them. I saw a spoof of him and oxy-clean out there where they changed it to anthraxy-clean or something like that but I can't find it again, anybody else seen it?

It was coined inre to shysters trying to sell suckers the Brooklyn Bridge, which was a popular scam (believe it..or not) back then (circa 1888/1900).

I agree with everyone, those guys are seriously annoying. However, I gotta admit, my mother actually ordered Oxiclean off tv when it first came out, and still uses it to this day...I do too now, and I really think it works. Also, I will atest to the Shamwows, they really do work. My girlfriend got them for me because she thought they'd be a good shammy for me. I never used them until a couple weeks ago because I thought they were hog wash. Well I needed some towels to dry the '96, and low and behold, they really do work. Dunno about the other stuff listed, either I've never used or never heard of it, but I do know the two things I use do actually work , regardless of how annoying the spokespeople are for the product.
You might do good doing commercials.
