Anybody out there got a way to clean up seat belts?, short of replacing them?. Damn things get grubby looking after a few years now that they are mandatory and in constant use.
get some oxyclean and soak them really good and scrub them around with that and some laundry detergent and rinse really good dry really good too. I did mine after about 25 yrs of nastyness and they came out nice.
My only concern would be with how well those belts will perform in a crash after a strong cleaning.
None of us plan to have an accident, but use of the belts is for more than compliance with the law.
As a retired military pilot and aircraft accident investigator, I think I would sport myself to a set of new ones.
Just my thoughts
I could be wrong
I agree I ended up buying some aftermarket ones for the driver & pass and left the cleaned up one in the middle for looks and it holds my console. Just until I can afford the stock replacements I kinda like the old chrome flip type better anyways. Anyone ever put shoulder belts in & where do you mount them if so?
I know child car seatbelt staps are not recommended for cleaning because of breaking down the material making them less effective. They recommend getting new ones
