I have a 97 Explorer with rear disc. do I need that special tool that turns the piston as you press the piston in on the caliper or does this year have the emergency rear brake shoes so I can just push the piston right in like the fronts?
My 97 has a separated brake drum inside the rear disk hub.
Last time I checked, the drum brake shoes were paper thin, not designed for stopping the vehicle, just holding when stopped.
Recommend opening bleed screw when resetting piston, this will allow fresh fluid to fill caliper when you apply initial pressure (also no dirty fluid is pushed back up system)
