I'm doing the front brakes and figured while truck was down I would replace the upper bearing on the tilt steering, but of course ford has two sizes!
How do you remove the steering wheel? I have the cover off and center bolt removed but I'm unsure and don't want to break something!
thanks in advance
Marty
Not sure which steering wheel you have. I'll presume no air bag. Just find yourself a smaller 2 jaw puller with a small spacer about an inch in length. Should come with the puller. Any parts store will have one. It's kind of tricky to get the puller set but the wheel should pop right off. I always put a little anti sieze on shaft before putting the wheel back on so taking it off again is a bit easier.
It's pressed onto the splines but Before breaking out the steering wheel puller I try just hitting it with a sharp blow. Pull on it and smack it with a rubber mallet or other non-marring hammer. Steering wheel pullers can be rented for free from most mega-auto part stores.
never done it, but here are the instructions from the manual. i bet someone around here will have some experience to go along with this info...

The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more for the powertrain control module to relearn the strategy.
I've never had to use a puller so I don't know what style puller it uses.
I just use the grunt and smack routine...works every time.....well almost LOL!
Be sure to put the nut back on a few turns so you don't eat the wheel when it pops.
