How do you like them ?

Hello all. I have a 96 F-250 which is pushing 250k( still runs great 7.3). I have been think of getting a new F-150. I've always had 3/4 tons and I pull a 3000 lb trailer everyday. But with diesel fuel higher and maintence I think I'm ready to change. I really like the looks of the new F-150 but not ready to pull the trigger until I hear some real world stories. The truck will be 4x4. Tell me what your likes and dislikes are. Thanks

I think you'll find that this new truck will tow your trailers just as well as your older F250.....you'll be amazed

You might want to think about the wear and tear a trailer puts on a truck. Towing every day might not be optimum for the 150?

Its only 3000lb, if the truck can't handle that every day then ford has a problem. its not like its a ranger. the other thing to consider is that even with high diesel prices, the cost of a new vehicle just adds more out of pocket spending. but we all know we love a new vehicle.

There are always things to be considered. Dads79 stated that he has 250k on a 12 year old 7.3L truck and the truck has worked hard it's whole life. The truck has lived up to Ford's intentions. The F-150 should be able to pull 3k daily with no problem, but, will it last 12 years and 250K? Well, we won't know for quite sometime. I say buy it and work the hell out of it!

with proper maintenance and care, the new F150 will do the job with ease, flair, and probably get you to the 200k+. that being said, the amount you save year to year on maintenance costs will probably add up to whatever longetivity you might lose in a gas/diesel comparison.

i say go for it. looks are about the only thing that some few people aren't liking about them.

Umm, save on maintainance costs?

You'll prolly spend more on brakes for the F150, than You would for any maintainence on a 250?

Generally speaking, when peeps post they have a 3 K trailer, it's either the trailer minus load, or load minus trailer. I wonder if His trailer, and load exceed 3K Lbs?

I'm sure it would handle a 3K trailer. But You have to admit. Doing it daily is going to take a toll on any rig. If He expects to get the same service His 7.3 gave Him. I'd highly doubt it.

normal maintenance costs such as oil changes, filters etc. are all higher for a diesel than a gasoline. as for brakes and such, that'll come no matter what you drive/use. a properly equipped F150 WILL handle that load day in/day out. for 250K miles?? well, thats a decent life even for a diesel, but meticulously maintained i think its achievable.

I see alot of 04-08's pulling skid loaders around here.So I know they are strong. I pull a small 5x8cargo trailer full of tools (trim carpenter). I love the 7.3,I know the newer ones put out more power but they are also more complex . So I don't want a new diesel, also they don't did as good of mileage. I get 15mpg pulling my trailer. I'm keeping my Excursion in case I need to tow something heavier.I really like the looks of the new F-150.And I am hoping to get a good deal.
