2000 heat issue

Ive done a fair bit of reading here and have tried to use the search function as much as possible but havent found the solution.

Just bought a US 2000 excursion V10 and it seems good except it does not appear to blow very much heat from the dash vents or defrost.
ive read alot about the blend door but am not fully satisfied I want to tear the dash apart just yet.

The AC does blow and I CAN hear the workings "change" as I rotate the dial from cold to hot.

I CAN get the air to blow out of everywhere its supposed to.
The heatercore lines inside the dash/around the heaterbox behind the glovebox DO feel quite hot.

So where exactly is the blend door on an excurions and what should I do before I get heavily into something that may not be the problem.

I do get heat from the vents/defrost but its just luke warm at best

(the rear system seems to blow hotter than the front)

Thanks

Can't help you with the blend door (Gotta be near the heater core), but there are some alternatives in this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...er-months.html.

Good luck with it, hope you figure it out.

Congrats on the purchase... I just bought my first X also. Only has 173 k on it... Your problem sounds like a sticky or low temp thermostat. That is the cheapest answer i have for you.

between the white operating range marks . Do others Ex's run warmer than that?
Thanks for the replies guys.

I should mention on the drive home I towed a 31 scarab 1800 plus miles and the temp guage never moved. It seems to settle in at about 25% to 33% of the way

Also the rear seems to blow warmer than the front which is why Im suspicious of the blend door. It does work to some degree as I can get nice cold AC too tho. I really dont want to pull anything apart to find its not a problem!

That's about where my gauge runs, although you'll find postings about the temp gauge where the thermostat was replaced and the heater started working better but the indication on the gauge didn't change.

Is that '31 Scarab what they called something like a Scout Scarab that was real streamlined? Kind of like a sausage with tires? Those are really rare!

I think the next step is a thermostat just cause its relatively cheap and easy

I'm not totally sure what u mean about the Scarab but ill post a pic
