I have a question for you guys that have had the dash out.
I noticed the heat is not working so good this morning, the fan is strong, I can only get air from the dash vents and/or the defrost. no floor at all, and with the temp all the way on hot i only get barely warm air. The heater core is hot! both hoses are hot so its got to be flowing and with the fan on you can feel hot air blowing through the gaps around the core cover??
The vacuum servo for the defrost/floor blend door doesn't seem to be hooked to anything. all the other doors seem to be working. Is there any way to get to that door without pulling the dash?? any suggestions??
Man I wish I still had the parts truck sitting out there to look at. The dash was completely out of it and all this stuff was right out in the open. Sadly it went to the scrap yard about a month ago.
Try just pressing the connector onto the back of the HVAC control ****. All those vacuum lines connect there at the same spot on the back of that panel. I am wondering if the connection is loose or something.
I assume you have strong vacuum from the vac pump, correct?
yes sir.. its got good vacuum all the way up to the switch. And I can see that servo, as well as the other three move when i change the selector. I was able to pull a bunch of stuff off, ash tray radio and glovebox, and get the tips of my fingers in there, the connector just flops around. So I am thinking it came un-hooked from the door inside there somewhere The beast is getting grumpy!!!! It feels winter coming on.
You have to pull the glove box and a couple other pieces behind it out and you can get to the blend door. It has been a couple years ago i had to do this to my brothers truck to get a pin out of the blend door.
