Transmission slip-yoke?
After looking around at the drive-line I found this...

As you can see a good chunk of the slip-yoke's ear broke off which allowed the retaining clip to pop out, and the u-joint was wiggling around freely on one side. I have no idea how it managed to do this, I did replace my u-joints about a year ago I know it wasn't broke when I reinstalled it then.
I'll be hitting the junkyards Monday and what I'm wondering is if the yoke is the same on all E4ODs? Also curious if any other Ford tranny using this same yoke? If it helps any the yoke has the word "Spicer" stamped into it. The yoke also has a small tag attached to it with a number that I believe reads "51963", the number is a little faded but I believe that's what it says.
Also wondering if anyone knows of any good online part sources to consider if I'm unable to find one locally? If all else fails I did contact the local Ford dealer, but I'd rather try out all options before I drop 145 bucks on a dealer part.
Thanks in advance for any advice/help you can spare.
Send Ed your VIN, he will let you know the MSRP and FTE member discount price taken off the ACTUAL FORD MSRP (not some dealers jacked up list price).
The link to Ed's site is on this page among the sponsors.
I went to look this yoke up for you, but there there are several different yokes: with this engine, with that engine, wheelbase this, wheelbase that, 2WD this, 4WD that.
NONE of this jazz needs to be known with your VIN, because when it's typed into Ford's computer system, the part number comes right up.
Ah heck, it's kinda slow around here, so...here's one of the applications:
E9TZ4841A .. Slip Yoke / Fits: 1996 F150 / 2WD / 302 / E40D / 133" Wheelbase / MSRP: $99.55 / FTEpartsguy.com price: $71.68
This VIN system for getting part numbers is great for the newer stuff, but it's the bane of everyone that owns older vehicles where the VIN system doesn't apply.
Many of the so called partsguys today are not really partsguys at all, they're computer certified techs, and don't need anything but the VIN.
When you approach these guys with older stuff, many are totally lost, because they do not know how to use a parts catalog, and do not know Ford part numbers.
The usual answer if you ask them for parts for '80's and older stuff is...sorry, the part is obsolete.

Peeps are suspicious from the get go...because they say that without doing anything but standing there!
Do they look in a parts catalog? No, they do not...for the simple reason they haven't a clue. For all the good it does them, the catalog might as well be typed in GREEK!
