And I don't think there is anything wrong with there being no "National Championship" team. Too many variables, not enough head to head play and the most impotant thing is that it shouldn't matter who is the "#1" team. Granted, many of the players would never make it to the big colleges if it weren't for their football skills but football (and other sports too) should remain secondary to why they are there.
True, but the better the athletic programs, the more exposure they get, and the more money they get, which, in turn, makes more kids want to go there, making them more money.

No arguement from here on that point. It is a sad reality though. In my perfect little world the school would grow because people could go there for a good education......
For someone who wants to go to the NFL college is the road to take just as it is for someone who wants to become a doctor or lawyer. What is the big deal. If a football or other sports player want to be an idiot for their entire life just to play sports let them be an idiot.

No problem with that as all as long as they are held to the same academic standards for acceptance, abide by the same rules as the rest of the students and pay their way and don't get free rides then I am all for them being idiots the rest of their lives. Until then, many are just taking up a seat that a more deserving and/or talented student could have filled.
I guess that I think that on this issue it's not much of a deal that he expresses his opinion. It's not like he's proposing a mandated playoff system.
If anybody awards it excess weight because of who said it -- shame on them.
As far as real playoffs -- I don't think hat there would ever be a workable system. Too many schools, and not enough play within the conference.
I'd hate to see a playoff system. It would reduce the number of schools that you'd get to see, and there would still be controversy. It's college! Three or six schools claiming number one is just part of the deal.
PEBO shouldn't be watching football games and he certainly shouldn't be commenting about the BCS. He needs to get ready to do his job.
You're totally right, he might choke on a pretzel while watching a football game, like Bushie.
The man has an opinion, he's entitled to say it freely like anyone else, regardless of his position or responsibility...just like you should be allowed to say what you did above.
