I know there are past threads on this but I have a question concerning sea foam. My 02' f150 screw with a 5.4 has just eclipsed 115k and I haven't run any fuel additives to clean the injectors and fuel system.
I purchased Gumout complete fuel system cleaner and just added it to the gas tank since this is easier to use than Seafoam. I also purchased Seafoam in case I wanted to use it.
Can I use Seafoam through the vacuum line while I'm running the Gumout through the gas tank? Where and what is the vacuum line they speak of? Lastly, would using the Seafoam do something that the Gumout won't, is it worth it?
You will be fine using Seafoam while using Gumout. The seafoam through the brake booster hose will be more concentrated since it will not be diluted with fuel and clean more effectively.
Really though, any source of vaccum that runs to the intake manifold will be ok to use. I prefer to use the brake booster hose. Can carry more product and that's what I used to learn on. Look on towards the rear of the motor on the drivers side by the firewall. You should see a big fat black hose that runs from the brake booster to the intake. Disconnect it from the brake booster, not from the intake.
Follow the directions on the can, let it soak for as long as you like. 5 minutes or overnight is what I do. Then go for a cruise until the smoke completely clears from the exhaust. About 15-20 minutes of driving.
Pouring it in the brake booster line will not clean the injectors. It may remove a little build-up from the intake valves but not much.
You're better off pouring it in the next tank of gas.
Techron is one of the best fuel system cleaners out there. look for it in a black bottle.
I use it at every oil change.

Hit the nail on the head, Techron works well when added to the tank and this will clean fuel system, Seafoam in brake booster vac. line will clean carbon from valves, top of pistons, intake runners and exhaust.

Seems even if I do have honest experience with something, I'm still wrong.
