Doh!!!! 4x4 will not engage!
Hello all I posted a question some time ago about my 4 wheel drive not engaging properly, and did what was posted by you great ford truck gurus. I have a 1990 ford f-250 with that big ol 460 in it. I replaced the lock outs, with new ones in hopes of a bad or failing lock out is all it was, well dont think thats the case. It snaps in and out usally when I turn the wheel and it seems to be the driver side that is grinding. It wants to engage but doesn't quite get there. The shaft on the driver side when I was putting the lock out in does seem to have a bit of slop, I can push it in and out. Im not sure but I think my 79 bronco had just a little bit of that itself but no 4x4 problems. My best guess is I need new wheel bearings to get rid of the slop? This truck must have sat for some time because Ive been through almost all of it and broke the ignition switch the other day so now I got to start it with a pliers.........nice. Till I can get to it to fix that. Anyways, great sight helps me alot, and any advise would be great. Thanks
