I am installing Hedman Elite ceramic coated headers on my '86 460 cid, 2 1/2 in. from headers going into a 3 in. Y-pipe, then 3 in. pipe the rest of the way.
The question is which muffler to use that is free flowing and fairly quiet (but not too quiet). I need to be able to sneak my Fifth wheel trailer into a campground at night with out waking the whole camp.
Turbo?
Flowmaster?
What do you think will be best? What should I stay away from?
I think that magnaflow or dynomax would be a safe bet...those would definitely not be too loud. A flowmaster 50-series deltaflow would probably work well too, but be a bit louder.
I would go with Dynomax. More flow than Flowmaster. There are numbers that show the CFM output on most populare mufflers @ exhaustsoundclips.com. Hope this helps you.
