Flowmaster 70

hey everyone
i have been thinking about adding a flowmaster 70 with dual in dual out to my straight pipes on the old straight six, i was wondering if anyone had this set up and could tell me how it turned out?
i have true dual with no cats or mufflers now and its loud and i like it but want it quieter with a good tone to it.

Loud, quiet, tone,...anything to do with sound is all in the ear of the beholder. Check out the sound clip "Sticky" at the top of this Forum.

I never did like any of the quieter Flowmaster's I've heard. Not sure what to tell you. Is your pipes ran all the way out back to your bumper? That is the biggest thing to keeping your cab quiet.

I would just keep the straight pipes and run them out back if they aren't already. A 40 or 44 series will quiet it down some, if that is what you're looking for. If you want something that actually makes the truck much more quieter, look into a Dynomax muffler or something like that.

I personally love the sound of a straight piped I6.

Here's a clip of mine with a 44 seires Flowmaster. YouTube - F150 Cold Start / Mounting Ramps

I don't know what to tell you man. I ran my pipes out back and my cab is nice and quiet. I get a quiet rumble inside the cab and a bit of a roar when I give her a lot of throttle. It doesn't hurt anyone's ears and it's not annoying. I don't know why yours is so loud. I assume because it's straight piped.

Just put a long glass pack on each pipe. That's a cheap way to quiet it down - and not sound bad.

That is what I would think. The 300 is quiet compared to V8's (minus two cyilnders, remember). I heard a 300 with stoc k cats and a Flowmaster 40, dual out pipes ran all the way back. The best way I know to describe it is that it sounded like the stock exhaust system on a V8. It sounded good, it just wasn't loud.

Since the OP doesn't have cats, I would say try the 40 / 44 / or 50 series (the 50 series is quieter).
