box side step

My salesman showed me the new box side step on the '09 F 150 today. He says it's also available on the Super Duty. Is anyone familiar with this option and whether or not it will mount to the '08 Super-Duty without frame modifications? TIA

They aren't shown in the order guides as an option but they may be available from Ford Accessories as an aftermarket add-on.

One of the FTE Members from MD posted these steps that are utility boxes..

Not sure if that is what you saw, but they are cool but pricey..

That's actually not that bad. I didn't see the price anywhere though. Anyways, I think the OP was talking about these:

I look for them on Ford's site but didn't come up with anything.. That is why i thought he might have meant these..

They are alot more functional, but I believe the prices is over 1K..

Your probably correct that is what he was looking for.. Good find..

I like the ones you posted too. I watched part of the video but I kind of wonder how weathertight they'd be. When you think about it though, it really is a good concept. Didn't read that much on the site but also wonder if you could order them painted to match.

I said the same thing about weather tightness.. From the pictures it doesn't appear to have much gasket material.. I also noticed that the lock looks a bit weak.. It would be better to have 2 latches at the corners so noone can pry them open..

Agreed completely. If your approximate price is right, I'd expect it to be weathertight and completely secure. The only other problem I see with it is the possibility of ground clearance issues on non-lifted trucks.

Yep, you got it correct. Thanks. The sticker price on the new F-150 I saw was only like 325 from the factory.

I'd gladly pay that for those steps. Hopefully we see some aftermarket alternatives for the SDs, or get a shot at these at a reasonable price...
