What about the overboost annihilator?

I saw an overboost eliminator on ebay for 45$. Says it gives more boost, drops the egt and so on. What about too much boost?
How do these work and are they safe?
Thanks,
Lusty

You'd be better off getting a "known-good" product like what ITP Diesel sells:

ITP's Overboost Annihilator

Same price and many people here use it. I'll be ordering one in the next few days myself

Never heard of an overboost annihilator dropping EGT's... I have (somewhere) a free version of an overboost eliminator but the jury's out as to whether it actually works or not. I should pop that sucker in one of these days...

it will not give you more boost or lower the EGT's..it just hides what boost you can make from the map sensor so the truck dont defuel its self..with a chip a stock turbo can build 30 lb but going over 25 lb of boost the stock turbo wont last long...

And you can avoid the overboost annihilator if your tunes from DP come with code, correct?

Can my BD thruster turbo handle more than 30lbs? What about the other parts. I thought that over 30 and joints and seals would start blowing? If anything, I wouldlike the turbo to come on stronger, earlier, say 10-15mph.
Do the TDP tunes already have this feature for hiding boost?

Well if BD makes as good as a product as they swear they do then you should be okay. I have the stuff to do my DIY kit but I have been reluctant to do it since I really don't want to lose my stock turbo until I can find a van. I am not sure if Tony does those codes or not.

The BD thruster turbo appears to be a journal bearing design, with the same A/R as a stock turbo. It does have a ported housing which will eliminate surge, but since the A/R has not been increased to relieve the excess drive pressures I do not believe I would run this over 27-30 #s

If you want faster spool then get the TW or DP chip and you wont have a problem, the Superchips does not add enough fuel on the low end to spool your turbo as quick as you would like.

IIRC, the DP no code tunes only keep the SES light from coming on, I do not believe they actually hide the true boost from the PCM to the map like a regulator would.

I have the TW chip coming. To be delivered tommorrow. I look forward to seeing if the turbo spools quicker. Is there anything you can do to the BD turbo like housing or something to handle more boost?

Brandon was describing how to make your own OBA locally and have it function identically to ITP, or BD's. Sounded like it would save you some money to depending on if you found a good deal and of course no shipping. Maybe he will post it up for us...
