I recently installed a t-18 in my 93 f-150. I got all the air out of my lines but still not enough throw to disingage the clutch. Im using a 89 slave because thats what year the t-18 came out of, and using my stock 93 master which worked prior to swapping. Anyone know if the 93 master has enough power/capacity to fully operate the 89 slave? I believe its either the master or slave that is messing up so I bought a new master and slave but before installing i want to know if they will work together. Any input would be appreciated. I also upgraded to an 11inch clutch when i completed the swap if that has anything to do with anything.
Go to an online parts store (like napaonline.com) and compare the master cylinder bore diameter on an 89 and 93 master cylinder to see if there is any difference. They will probably be different part numbers one way or the other because if I'm not mistaken, the mounting bolt pattern changed somewhere between 89 and 93.
Yea the 89 master bolts to the firewall from the inside, and the fluid resivoir is close to the fire wall, where as on the 93 it is at the end of the master and bolts up from the outside. I have checked and the parts numbers are different however, they do not give much more technical information.
NAPA's website shows the '93 with an 18mm (.709 in.) bore and the 89 with a 7/8in. (.875in) bore. The 93 would move less fluid over the same length stroke than the 89 due to the smaller bore. However, the listing for a 92 shows a 7/8" bore, and it should have the same mounting pattern as the 93.
Sorry, I (stupidly) didn't look into Napa's web site until after I posted. After checking out what they have, I decided just to order their, 93 master, line, slave pre-filled and bled kit, that way everything should be up to par. It seems as if the common patern from master bore to slave bore is about 3mm from several applications I searched. The 93 came with the avalible t-18 so I think everything should fit up pretty well. My original problem seems to be that there was not enough pressure to fully move the 89 slave. So hopefully everything will work now. Thanks for the help, really appreciate it.
