that still doesnt answer our ? about getting more fumes or whatever to egnight? i also have threaded plugs i just need some flamable way that it will throw the flame!
You shouldn't get fumes if your cat's are on the truck still. That's what they do, burn any fuel/fumes that are left in the exhaust before it exits the truck. If you are getting to many fumes left over the cats begin to work to hard and start to melt down. So if your cats are gone and your truck isn't running well then you might have enough fumes to shoot flames out the pipes.
I have a rich-running 460 w/dual exhaust and ran it with full choke and still couldn't get flames. I have the electrical part installed and working prefectl, but no fire.
My next test will be to disconnect a plug wire on each side to see if that makes a difference. If not, I think it might be better for the engine to just inject something into the tail pipes.
I also agree about the EFI and cats. EFI is just so much more efficient than a norm. asp. engine that you probably wont get enough unburnt gas (even without cats).
kjkozak2, I don't know what your running for an exhaust system, but I found if you run 2 1/2" front pipes and 2 1/4" tailpipes, along with some glasspack muffler you should be getting some flames when you let off the gas from a hard acceleration. 2" tailpipes would work even better but won't be enough flow for your 460. 2 1/4" is even pushing it if you have done any mods to your truck. Older Small blocks work so much better at getting some flames.
I agree that mine should work, but I only gave it a half-hearted effort that day due to time restraints. Hopefully, I just screwed something up and I'm not getting enough spark or something. It's really hard to look up the tail pipes and check from the driver's seat, though.
