With the new flash the "cleaning exhaust filter" message will stay on during the entire regen. Right now you probably just get the message when it starts the regen.
It is up to you in the end if you get the reflash. The message center updates are to show the message continuosly thru the cleaning cycle. So if yours does that i may already be up to date.
I havent had mine done yet but plan to very soon. Job 3 trucks should expect "Improved drivability and message center update:cleaning exhaust filter (continuous display)" according to the dealer bulletin. No idea what "improved drivability" refers to but thats probably the transmission update Senix mentioned.
Some people that had the reflash done back in October were claiming an increase in MPG but I think part of that was because when they reset the message center it starts to learn the avg mpg and miles to empty again. My truck read 425 miles to empty when I bought it but has never been close to that since
Maybe someone will chime in to let us all know if they are still getting better mpg or if it was just a result of the message center re-learning the actual mileage.
Yes, same here guys I would like to no also. Mine is a job #2. I do not get the cleaning exhaust display. Truck runs so good, I just don't know if I should get it done.
I'm not sure what happened, but right after the 08B07 CSP was intalled in my Job 1, I experienced a 10 to 12% fuel economy increase. I have not seen that sustained after getting into colder winter months, but am hoping it will be back when we get back into warmer weather.
As to New Guy's original question, there has been some controversy as to fuel quality or lack thereof in the ULSD fuel. While I've not had my truck die completely I did have gelling or freezing issues on one tank full @ -10. It causes the computer to take the engine to low power mode until the ignition switch is shut off and turned back on. This also set the check engine light because of low rail pressure, etc. My best advice is get at least 50% #1 fuel in your tank and then maybe a good antigel to boot. Since you've had this issue you might want to change fuel filters too.
