dynomax race bullet
I have tried basically all the mufflers out there save for the hooker maximum flow and aerochambers. I have had the flowmaster 1 chambers (loud and hollow---YUK), i have had the thrush magnum glasspacks (ok) and i have had the thrush turbo tubes(they rock but are no longer made). However, all I run now are the dynomax race bullets and headers. Let me tell you, they are NOT glasspacks in any sense of the word. They have ceramic packing around a straight perf tube. When you hear them, there is no mistaking that sound! They are sweet! quiet at idle but when you get on it, they howl! Definitely worth the $$$. However, I would recommend running 2.25 tubing and tips. 2.25 inch tubing to keep the exhaust velocity high and the tips to modulate the exhaust sound a tad lower. But as always, this is my opinion so I might be biased.
comments from anyone? regards

heres yet more proof for ya that those good ole bullets kick some *SS LOL I told ya man, dump those flow 40's and weld in 2 of these with 2.25 tubing WITHOUT cats and get ready for a sound like no other!

I will try them out sometime, I promise U... My dad doesn't care for the fact that I changed out my exhaust system 3 times last year.

I can relate dude! You should see my garage. I have several kinds of short setups already bolted together. For instance, I have glasspacks bolted to collector extensions (the part that bolts to the header), I have those bullets set up the same way ect. Then I have a set of quiet summit $15 cheapies the same way. I bolt these on temp. to pass emission testing here in jersey! Then, when I come home, OFF come the cheapies (they go back into 'storage'
and then ON goes the bullet or 'pack setup.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
That's pretty a nifty system ya got there... get tired of how yer truck sounds and swap out to somethin else. I shoulda thought about that a while ago... (then I woulda bought some bullets a while ago haha) On my truck so far I've had stock garbage-can muffler with dual exits after right-rear tire... To a 3" dual rear exit summit catback... to a flowmaster 40 original si/do dumped underneath the bed... then I routed piping from one of the muffler exits to in front of my right-rear tire w/3.5" SS tip.
My dad has access to a shop with a lift, torch, air compressor, etc and he's been there every time I've done an exhaust mod. After my second changeout I bought him a 40 series DF for his F-250... sounds awesome!!
...Now I don't feel like such a muffler head having changed mine out so many times. I know I still ain't done yet

they arent that loud at idle. They have a nice low rumble. Then again, it depends where you dump yr system. If you dump in front of the wheels, you will hear it more. If you dump it out the back under the bumper, it will be much quieter. All things considered, they are pretty ordinary sounding at idle. Ever hear the cheapo summit turbos? they LOOSELY sound like that..but get on em and that is another story
Ive never heard them on anything but a 390 so if you do decide to be different and get em, post back! I swear by the ultraflow stuff and a nice tip. I think they put the flowmaster sound to shame but that is my .02! Good Luckregards

Wow, am I relieved to read this thread! I thought I was the only person out there who thinks it's ok to 1) make your own exhaust system and 2) to change it when you feel like it!!
I'm on about my sixth setup in the last year! I'm happy with the shorty smog headers (gotta have 'em here), hollow front cat and hi-flow 3" cat into 3" pipe so I leave them alone. From there back I just swap it out depending on my mood. I have three heavy duty mounts welded onto the frame and I just undo a couple of bolts and PRESTO a new sound to the truck. I can go from just a 45 degree turndown (LOUD) to an UltraFlo (super quiet) in just minutes.
Keep on truckin'

and i thought i was the only sicko
the had an obsession with changing the exhaust setup 1x every week by undoing a few bolts and swapping on a "new" prefabbed assembly. Works like a charm everytime. If i want a real quiet sustem, i swap on the el cheapo summit turbos LOL If i want an annoying sound, I swap on the 1 chamber flowmasters. If i want a decent LOUD nasty glasspack sound i swap on the dynomax race bullect....gotta love the modular setup! BE PROUD< KEEP IT LOUD!!
