Blue Smoke question.

Blue Smoke question.

The truck in my signature has devolved a blue smoke issue, the smoke is a light blue and smells very much like diesel. The smoke is not constant, it comes in “puffs”. There will be no visible smoke when at idle, then all of a sudden a puff or cough of smoke that lasts 1-6 seconds. This happens when the truck is cold and when warm, nothing seams to clear it up. Is this a sign of a bad injector? Bad IP?

This problem did not develop all at once; it has been getting a little worse over time. The timing has not changed, it is a little advanced.. makes a little noise when super cold. Any help would be great. The truck does not seem to have a lack of power or anything..

HUH. I was just about to right down the same thing! My truck has the same problem. Its a 1989 F-250 7.3L IDI. The timing is advanced about 5 degrees. I dont think the pump is turned up or anything else, it should be stock as far asi know. I just changed all the injectors with Slightly used ones. (used for 2 months they put on shelf in sealed box.) Any help to would be great!!

More than likely You have an inj going bad

That would be my guess as well, one or more funny injectors. Hope they ain't like mine, one is stuck so hardcore it ain't even funny, tis scary if you see the length of a breaker bar I gotta use and the amount of force I gotta put on it to get the darn thing to move!

Just last weekend i had the same problem! I actually broke one off! or unscrewed it. Man was tat a pain to get out! But i got it!!!!

Wait, did you break it, or you unscrewed it? Or you first broke it, then somehow unscrewed the remains out the head?

yep, it is most likely a bad injector(s), ive been down that road before, it wouldnt hurt(if you have the time) to pull all of the injectors and take it to a diesel shop and have them pressure pop test them.

oh, its not really mine, its my grandpas. but he never drives it so i just sorta claimed it. its more of the family truck. i just figured id put it up.

sorry i should have clearified. i unscrewed it. it came out in two pieaces. the bottom pieace was siezed in there by alot of carbon!! But i got it out!!!
