Carb Woes
Ok, Im putting a 74 250 crew cab on a 95 350 4x4 chassis and Im having a little trouble with the 1406 edelbrock carb...It is used and the PO ran too much fuel pressure in it. Now it does not operate correctly...So my question is-What will break/fail/malfunction IF a person ran too much fuel pressure through the carb? Would it need a complete overhaul OR can I just replace the component that has been damaged? What would occur if someone ran too much fuel pressure though the carb?. I think the vehicle was EFI equipped and the fuel pressure regulator did not reduce the pressure to the recommended pressure for the carb model..... This problem is what is preventing the truck from getting mobile, so its making me antsy(if you know what I mean)....Can this be a cost-effective repair?? or require an overhaul?
Thanks in advance!!!!!
the fuel pressure is still too high and needs to be reduced to Edelbrocks
recommended level so the float system will work right?
Heck, put enough pressure on it and the "toilet tank float valve ;)" will let
fuel through it... flooding the carburetor to beat hell. Even just a "little"
would be bad for the carburetor's operations which rely on a "certain" fuel
level to work right. That'd be one place to look tho, is the rubber tip still
there and looking good? ;)
Is the high pressure fuel pump's return line still intact and working? :)
Seems to me that would be an important part, if the high pressure pumps
are to be used with the new carburetor system.
Along with a better pressure regulator system, maybe even one made to
work in a high pressure morph-a-dited system?
Anyway, that's my un-ed-jee-kated guesses at it. :)
