I had a pretty fast mustang up until about a month ago. But I wrecked it and I want to build an f100 with the 347 and tremec tko out of the mustang. I also want to use the fuel injection system out of the car. the motor makes about 375 at the crank. has anybody done this before, the efi I mean? because im trying to figure out exactly what i need off of the car. I also plan on lifting it 4" and putting thirty-somethings on it, what size do you think would work well. Do you think 4" lift is enough or should i go six? This truck wont be a daily driver because i plan on building another stang but i will use it to haul my jet ski and dirt bike around so i want it to be decent on the road. also im trying to get an idea of how fast it will be, i know i will have to change the rearend which is no big deal, but what does a 2wd f100 weight ive heard several different things, the lowest being 3500. Oh, and im thinking about doing a factory color, what are your favorites, thanks.
Unfortunately your mustang engine will not do as well in the truck. The EFI swap is kinda easy, kinda not. You're gonna want the entire wiring harness from the car and a set of ford manuals for both as you're going to need the wiring diagrams to make it all work.
I run a stock 302 in my truck and I have plenty of power , if I had that horsepower of that engine I wouldnt have any tires left , this swap has been done on here in 2wds , you will have to do a search , good luck and show us progress pics .
EFI is something I've thought about, but haven't tackled yet. But in doing some research there is alot of info about it on the web. Mustang EFI is a real popular swap among the Early Bronco crowd. If you search some of their forums and sites it might help you. I do know that there is a few companies out there that make wiring harnesses for this swap, which may make it even easier. I think they run about $400 - $500. A friend of mine went this route when he put a Mustang EFI motor in his 65 Falcon. Way less headaches. Tracing all the factory wires and finding the ones you need can be time consuming, not saying it can't be done, lots have gone that way too.
Ill check it out, i was thinking that i would just need the ecu and everything that connects to it, i think once i tear it apart i should be able to figure it out. I'm about a month or two away from starting, because i want to do everything at once but when i do ill post info/pics. what about the lift and tires? also any rough idea on the weight. I think it will be pretty close to the mustang because ill have more room for intake manifolds, and headers.
The truck weighs a good bit more than the mustang already, with the lift and bigger tires you're only adding to that weight. I'm not sure a 392 built for a mustang will have the power in the right rpm range for a truck. It can be done yes.
