Talking Engine Swap

I need help on Engine swaps
Have a chance to get a 07 4.6 out of a F150. Will this fit in a 97 F250?
It has 7k miles on it. They told me it is out of a roll over. I have just over 350k on my orignal engine and I don't think it will go too much more.
Any help will be great guys.

I'm not sure on fitment, but that seems like too small a motor for that truck. If you haul anything or use the truck in any work-like capacity, I would think it would be underpowered. I'd keep looking.

A 5.7 engine would be nice, but this truck came with a 4.6. Had good luck with what I had, 26.8 MPG. Don't want to loose that. Gas will go back up.
Here in NY they are raising the taxes because we arn't using enough to support the state wellfair programs.

The `07 engine is a drive by wire throttle which would be a huge headache to deal with. Look for another engine from any `97 - `03 model or from a `04 Heritage model. Good luck!

The '07 is still a 2V,it's the same externally as the older 2V's. The only concern would be getting to NPI intake to work on the newer PI heads. Everything else will changeover from the old engine to the newer engine with no major problems.

You learn something new every day. I guess that it is just the 5.4L that is the 3V with the drive by wire.

No, All '05-present are drive-by-wire,but that has nothing to do with the core longblock engine. Only the 5.4L is a 3V-the 4.6L is still the 2V until the '09 models. The 4.6L 2V is now the base engine with a 4.6L 3V as an option between that and the 5.4L 3V-no more 4.2L starting in '09. The only component that is different in respect to drive-by-wire vs throttle cable is the throttle body with the motor/actuator assembly. He'll need to use his old intake manifold (or a PI manifold from a '99 model) and external dress anyway,so drive-by-wire doesn't matter a bit.

OK, First thing I did was install a 3.73 posi rear, then 17" wheels all from a 02 F150. I also changed the front spindles, All this to get rid of the 7 lug wheels. I changed the air, fuel and any other filter I could find. New Plat plugs and a electric fan. Then I went to Magnaflow duel exhaust. Nice sound but not loud. I then installed a rear bed cover, I then noticed that if I keep it at 55 the MPG shot up to 25 to 27 depending how many traffic lights I make. If I keep my foot off the gas I may be able to keep it at that level. Thats all I can tell you. Just use your cruse control as much as you can, It drives better that we do. All this on a truck I bought surplus from the goverment for a 1000.00 bucks. It was a plain jane. I installed bucket seats, electric windows and door locks, cruse control and electric mirrows. The truck has manual 4X4 , is a automatic. It was in very good condition with 21000k on the OD. It was a fire truck at Cherry Point, NC Marine Air station. Oh it is a 97 F250LD. Well thats it.
