Hey guys, I'm in the process of putting a new exhaust on my 1995 F-150. In the process, one guy recommened that I use dual pipes straight from the cat with no mufflers. My questions are;
1)Is this legal? Does VA have inspection criteria saying your truck must have a muffler, or that your truck must be this quite?
2)I assume, if it's legal, running pipes with no mufflers is more efficient then running mufflers?
Jason, that is the way that my 93 302 is set up. I had 2 1/4" tailpipes w/o mufflers and echo tips installed for about 250 dollars. It in my view is probably the best set up. The cat quiets it down good enough, in other words its not that loud. It is legal and gives you a lot more power. my truck sounds almost exactly like a 5.0 mustang w/auto. I later added headers and it sounds a tad louder. Hope I helped!
