Actually I was on here, pop up came up and said I was low on virtual memory, clicked it off and the screen went blank. So I got more memory snapped it in and everything is working again.

I have a surge protector right at my panel box plus one on the outlets for all my electronics. So far no problems.

Say Morris, I forget, who do you have for internet out there again? Ive been looking for an alternative to satellite, the whole streaming video being really slow gets to me every now and then, and its a now time haha.
So a wireless broadband router with the extra computer going won`t slow down mine?
My isp is Baudoux, I think they`re only servicing this area east of town to Prud`homme.

Ive read lots about baudoux and yeah they arent out my way.

An extra computer wont slow down yours at all, unless each computer is on the internet and using it fairly heavy.

You have certain speeds. So say you have 1000kbps download and 500 upload. As long as both computers arent using the max speed, then it shouldnt slow down.

Of course there are always variables though, and im not 100 percent familiar with your isp, so they may be known for skimming on speeds too. Alot of places like doing that for some reason.

I`m not sure what Glen has, Yourlink maybe? Give him a shout and see what that`s like, he`s sorta in your area.

100 mbps, that is pretty damn sweet speeds!

On second thought, thats probably not the actual download speed. I had a 1mbps download speed in the ramada in edmonton and thats the fastest internet Ive ever had.

I can round up a speed test for you to test your connection if your interested, its pretty neat!

When my computer is working right the download speed is great. Right now there`s a problem that hopefully gets fixed tomorrow, it`s bugging me cause it`s almost as slow as dial up.

If your download speed drops dramatically, chances are it might not have anything to do with your computer. You can check your hard drive and make sure you still have space, you can do the regular disk clean up, clean the cookies, temp internet files from your browsers, maybe even get rid of some of your history restore points.

Virus's and trojans can affect your speed too. Should back up all your stuff, do a complete format and reinstall everything. A computer needs that done every now and then

My download speed drops dramatically and then surges back up.........
I`ve checked hard drive, there`s tons of space left, done the regular disk clean up, cookies, removed the temp internet files from browsers. I`m stumped which doesn`t take much.
The last time there was a problem with one of the small virus scan programs, there were no virus's or Trojans present.
Tomottow this gets fixed as this no speed is way too annoying!

Haha that was funny Morris.

I would almost call your internet service provider and get them to check your service out. Im gonna find a link to that speedtest, and you can check your speed out when it gets slow.

I find it hard to believe that it would be your computer slowing your download speeds out, especially after everything you just mentioned you did for maintenance.

With the wireless broadband router hooked up here the other user is reporting excellent downloading speed, similar to the cable hook up at his home.
Last time it was a program glitch that slowed my computer down but we`ll find out tomorrow morning when Andrew has a go at it.
