Question Damaged motor?

So, amidst the driving through heavy snow fall (about a foot), my serpentine belt slipped and I was left without powersteering, alternator and such for a good 8 miles or so until I got home. I am wondering if I damaged the motor a lot by running it without the belt?

The belt also runs the water pump, as long as you didn't over heat it you are probably just fine. Take a look at the coolant level and see if it's still full.

Damn, that must have been about 15 minutes of no water pump. If it was already up to temp when this happenned that's a long time, did the temp guage show that it was getting hot?

Could end up being a real expensive 8 miles, that's why I keep an old serpentine belt in the tool box.

Well I was thinking that with no power steering or power brakes and in the snow he wasn't going very fast. Diesels normally run pretty cool and under those conditions he should be ok.
