Exhaust Thoughts

I have a 90 300/I6. I would like to upgrade my exhaust system and make it duel. I would like increase my power performance with the upgrade and make it give it a more deep, robust, work truck sound but moderately loud. What type of mufflers do you recommend? Should I leave the converter on? What's a good pipe size? Would headers help performance on this split manifold?

Any thoughts and setups appreciated,
JIM

Have you ever thought of straight Dual's? I have a 1993 Ford F-150 with a 302 and dual straight pipes. It sounds pretty good really. Not very loud, but loud enough. I have heard several straight six' with duals after the convertor and they sound downright good too.
