I recently bought a 91 f-150 with a 302. The single exhaust pipe is not really what I want. Is there a specific header and duel exhaust system I could use, w/o spending more than $500 for?
Yes, but i don't know about the less than $500. The exhaust systems for EFI engines are tricky and cost more than you would think. I assume you ned headers, mufflers and installation. Sounds like 5 or 6 hundred to me.
I agree with Reuel. It may cost you a bit more than $500. I have JBA "shorty" headers ($299 from Evergreen) and a Walker Dynomax cat-back system ($179? from Summit, dual 2.25 outlet pipes)on my '90 F-150 and installed both myself. I think a Flowmaster cat-back is about $249, Gibson a little less. I checked local muffler shops and they want $250-$350 for a custom Flowmaster "Aluminized" cat-back dual system. Just shop around for the best price. Good Luck.

I think that you can spend at the least about $300 dollars on exhaust/headers. This is getting the cheapest of everything and no muffler. From there it goes up. You have to choices to make: muffler(s) or no muffler; size of pipes; duals or no duals;type of pipes; tips?;
I read in a Summit Magazine that the have Shorty Headers for about 159 dollars. I had dual exhaust put on my 93 after the convertor and stainless steel pipes for 150 dollars. I had echo tips put on for about 75 dollars. I saved some money because I didnt get a muffler. Some people tell me that I wouldn't have enough back pressure and some people tell me that I do. I think I do. The convertor does enough sounds deadening.(quietness) Its really everyones own opinion.
If you live in Ga there is a place where I got mine done in Palmetto, GA( between Newnan and Fairburn on I-85) The name of the place is Pulliams Automotive. They do a great job for real cheap. The muffler they use is one made by Flowmaster. Its called a powerpak it looks just like a glasspak, i have mine on a 1990 F-150
