Starting Issues

When I turn the key to start my b2, it just makes a clicking noise in the starter soleinoid. So I grabbed one out of my parts b2 and installed it and it did the same. So I tried jumping the soleinoid and it still clicked. What could be wrong? In the past two months I have replaced the battery, battery cables, starter, and soleinoid. I have another starter to put in but I would rather not go through all that again if I have to. This is all I have left to do until I can get it inspected so some help would be great

Make sure the clamps are making a good connection at the battery posts. Make sure the engine has a good ground.

I checked the connections and they were good. Where does the engine block ground to the frame?

The engine block is grounded via straps to the body and body to the frame / battery. You should also check to see if you are getting proper voltage to the starter itself.

Not sure what year your BII is but on my 1988, The negative cable from the battery ran down and grounded to the frame and then it went to the block. It attached on the passenger side of the block, above and forward of where the oil filter screws on.

How did you try and jump the solenoid? I usually take some jumper cables and with just one of the clamps, I clamp it on the two big posts to bypass the solenoid.
