Stalling cold! Need Help

If you lost that much oil in 1000 kms, then it's got to be going somewhere. Double check the places listed above and see if you can find any signs of where it went.

k. Im going to do the filter and oil tommorrow and ill check for leaks

ok I put the 10W30 in have not reconnected the edge chip yet but I have a lack of power and the engine feels like it is no running on all cylinders. It did notstall and it seemed to start better though. That filter was a struglle without the right tools......screw driver being the best option in the end. There is a very visible oil leak that is running from around midway up the back of the engine where around rear seal I think. I am going to drop it off at one of my more reliable mechanics tommorrow.

Have him check the top of the motor for leaks if you don't want to mess with it. Most leaks on these engines are from a bad o-ring on top of the motor. The rear main seal hardly ever leaks.

that is what he thinksit is too.(o ring) and the high pressure seal for hte lagging and the misfiring as well. I will let u know what my update is when i get it back. Thanks for all your help.

Im having almost same problem and can't get any help. I have a 2002 7.3 and it cranks fine in the morning but after i pull out on the road and start to drive it acts like it runs out of fuel. after the second time of struggling to crank it. It will run fine the rest of the day. If i let it idle tell it warms up I have no problems. Anyone have any suggestions. New fuel filter i stay on top of that and I stay on oil changes but I do use lucas oil additive could it be to thick? causing me problems It never has done this before.

You should start your own thread.

Lucas oil treatment should never be used in the 7.3 or any diesel that has a HEUI design. The Lucas oil treatment will cause the oil to foam.

HEUI - Hydraulically actuated Electronically controlled Unitized Injection

Lol I tried to figure out how to start my own thread but could not figure it out but thank you for the info on no Lucas! I will change the oil and not put it back in. I just noticed my engine was much quieter with it in so I kept doing it every change.

Thanx! I'm enbaressed to say I figured it out. I was low on oil and probably need a oil change. I installed a fuel pressure gauge I'm only holding 25 lbs. I can't find out what I should have.

Ford specs are 53 PSI at idle.

Thanks mine stays at 25 idle or floored. It's running much better since I changed the oil but I guess I need to replace the transfer pump
