I only wish that owner's who have experienced problems would state with some clarity what happened. mud_man above is an impossible post. Same as sped.deni above. My question is I do want to learn, as I am an owner. Why not participate in our forum and be pro active/helpful.

Sorry guys...

RMOSS,

I think most of the real truck owners do want to participate and help each other. I actually come here to find out things before I ask my dealer because I really think that FTE members know more.

Sebenedini is not a real 6.4 owner. He is a trash talker. Still no response or any details given to the many questions that were asked of him.

I can honestly tell you I have no idea what mud_man is trying to say above. I am not being negative but I really don't understand his point.

They do sell the extended warranty for up to 200,000 miles now. It ain't cheap but if you are going to keep the truck for that long it may be a good investment. Just my 2 cents.

I purchased the 200K extended warranty. It's a good thing to do if you use your truck as a work truck. If you use it, the truck will literally pay for itself several times over by the time you hit 200K. Anything after that is gravy until you get the 2011 or 2012 model.

If you don't mind me asking what did you pay for it? I got a flyer I want to say it was $3,000. I already have the 100,000 mile warranty. Is that subtracted from the 3k? Just curious.

The warranty I have is the one that ADDS 100K to the factory warranty. I think it was 24 or $2600, yeah it's a lot. It covers the engine and components. I will get the paper out later today and list everything. It has to be purchased before you hit 36,000 miles.

I have never purchased an extended warranty on anything until this truck. It's one of those things that can keep you up at night wondering if it's worth the money or not. We decided to do it but we also charge by the mile when we go out on jobs, so, it kind of works itself out over time.

ruschejj,

Thanks for the info. Please print the list of covered items when you have a second I would like to see if it is the same warranty I was offered. Thanks.

I know we all can't afford to get an extended warranty on everything we buy but I wouldn't leave it off a truck. To much can go wrong. I equate the extended warranty on a truck like homeowner's insurance on a house.

plastic parts? my factory intercooler is aluminum

just a note on the perception that the factory intercooler is plastic. I was looking under the truck the other day and the covering on the bottom tank of my intercooler, which is black, was coming off. The intercooler itself is aluminum. Its whatever they covered it with, paint, rubber coating, etc, which makes it look plastic. If you look closer I think youll see what im talking about. Anyone else confirm this?

Same here, black paint flaking off the base of the (I think) aluminum intercooler. Some day flat black engine block paint will return it to spec.

It would be different if the average backyard mechanic could work on these trucks. Im pretty handy with a wrench but have no desire to lift the cab on this truck.

6.4L question

Hello all. I want to tell you first how useful I find all the posts on this forum. I have a question. I currently have a sick F-150 with the 5.4 3V issue. Thinking of upgrading to a Super Duty and looking at something 08 and newer. On a budget so I found an 08 that is in my price range but it has 121K miles on it. I am seeing some thoughts on this motor lasting upwards of 300K. What are your thoughts on getting one with this kind of mileage. THanks in advance.
