Somebody had posted the links to the Ford free online service manuals for all the recent years a while back... you can probably find them with a search. But they are online-only; ie. you cannot download them onto a CD.
As far has the Haynes vs Chilton.. I had owned CHiltons for everyting up to a few years ago.. they just dont have the info they use to.. I have started buying the Haynes only now..
For what we typically encounter, it's REAL hard to beat Guzzle's stuff.
Haynes and Chilton's would love to have the quality of his stuff, but can't afford to publish in that detail. We get it as a benefit of coming here.

Pop, you hit the nail on the head. I have both Haynes and Chiltons and still don't have all the info that I need. Guzzle seems to have all the difficult areas covered and the rest we could figure out ourselves. Well,,,, some anyway. I use exploded views from the dealer's parts department for a good breakdown of the assemblies. That helps a lot.
i use the ford service DVDs.
i have also found the haynes books are only good for lining the bottom of a bird cage.
the chiltons books ain't much better. they try to cover everything with one book, and it gets so vague, you really can't depend on them for the technical stuff.
if you don't know much about mechanical repairs, they are ok. but for mechanics, we usually know more than the books contain. and the stuff we need the books for is not in them
