My 02 with 106,000 miles is showing pretty good inside wear on front tires.
Question??
I think it may be time for ball joints, if I find out it is ball joints what else should I look at replacing/upgrading while I have front end apart.
Check out the ball joint replacement thread in the Super Duty tech folder.Great detailed write up with pics.
I would also look at your tie rod ends, sway bar and end link bushings, and what the heck, steering stabilizer.
Someone else will be here with more ideas.
If you're on a budget, make sure the ball joints are your problem first. I had to replace the front springs on my 2wd when the inside of the tires started wearing down.
If I remember correctly, my 2002, F250 sort of did the same thing. I had an alignment checked on it and was advised I need new shocks. Installed the Beilsteins (sp?) and things took a turn for the better.
Suggest checking your shocks.
If it is your ball joints make sure you move those front tires to the back right when you do the ball joints... When your ball joints go bad it tends to "feather" your front tires and feathered front tires will beat up ball joints.
I've got Firestone Transforce AT'S on it,( I live in a rural area and tire shop is two blocks away), I've been pretty good on rotating. Other than routine maintenance, I've never done anything major.
I plan to keep truck for anther 100k so I want to make sure everything is up to snuff.
Truck is 4 wheel, 2002 , I do pull a decent size boat, also been known to haul some firewood with trailer, other than that truck is used to commute to work and back.
