Steering Wheel Accessories

I am looking to replace the "wood grain" insert in my steering wheel. I have checked LMC trucks and no dice. I have a 79 F-150 Lariat, with tilt, cruise horn, also with the Ford emblem in the center of the wood grain. There is no locking device on the steering column.

Any and all ideas would be great!!!!

These usually show up on ebay.
Sometimes just the horn pad with switches and sometimes the whole steering wheel.
Good luck and look at the pics closely, Ive seen some in bad shape on there.

Just be careful buying ebay stuff from canada! It may never make it to your door. Or you will have sold the truck, retired and moved to a new address by the time it comes.

it is as safe buying off ebay from Canada, as it is from any other country. don't knock Canada!knock the dishonest seller. there are crooks everywhere you go. yes beleive it or not even where you come from. if you buy on line make sure its a secure transaction first ,thats all. oh yea...i am a proud canadian.my friend bought his Ducati motorcycle off ebay from Daytona Florida. it only took about 3 weeks to get to his door (on the south west coast of British Columbia,Canada). the only hold up was customs at the boarder. otherwise it would have been even quicker.

I was waiting on this..............and I am not knocking Canada or any other country outside of the USA. I didn't say anything specifically about canada being dishonest! Trust me in my line of work I know as well as anyone that the US and every other country for that matter is full of crooks! The problem that I and many other personal friends have had when buying from across any border is shipping. Shipping has nothing to do with Canada, Mexico or any other country, but it has everything to do with the shipping company (DHL UPS etc). CHILL OUT! And you should be proud to be canadian. I remember how good it felt when I was once proud to be american! If it wasn't so damn cold in canada I might move up there!

i would look at some of the sponsored parts sites here at FTE. you may be able to replace the complete steering wheel for what it might cost to just replace the center horn insert. its just a suggestion. my steering wheel needs the clear cover for over the ford blue oval in the very center of the horn button.im just going to keep looking until i find it. Tenfourty_2 if you are ever up near my neck of the woods come on over,we can go play with my ford toys in the mud .if its summertime its really nice and warm. right now... not so warm. still snowing!!!

OK guys...here is a real dumb question...I went to ebay...clicked on Ford...then parts and accessories....even went as far as typing in 73-79 Ford F-150 parts....and I couldn't find the horn/cruise control advertisement...I viewed 55 other parts for this year, but not that one...

What am I doing wrong to find these parts???? It is not like I have never been on ebay before, but evidentally, I am doing something wrong....

I just did a search from the ebay home page "73-79 ford", filtered on the left for interior and it is about 3/4 down the page.

BUYER BEWARE!!!

The horn and Cruise Control Pad DOES NOT fit 1973-1979.

It actually fits 1980-1986.

Here are the many reasons why...
  1. 1973 and 1974 never had cruise
  2. 1975-1977 Horn pads with cruise use the same steering wheel as the 1971-1977.
  3. This horn pad fits the 1978-1986 wheel, however....
  4. 1978-1979's never had a resume button. That was introduced in 1980.
Even though this horn pad will fit on the 1978-1986 steering wheel, the resume button will not work for 1978-1979.

Why People don't list their parts on e-Bay correctly? Could be ignorance, or it could be that the 1975-1977, and 1978-1979 horn pads with cruise are very rare and get a premium $$$.

So I'll say again, BUYER BEWARE!
