My apologizes 81 F-150...I want to give props to where they are deserving....I appreciated your advice...thanks again....but here is another question...I emailed the guy and he swore that he took it off his 79 Ford....and he also said he sold another one to a guy in AZ and it worked fine. I looked on my steering wheel and there is NO RESUME BUTTON....so now what does a person do??? IF I were to buy it, and hooked it up, would everthing work except the resume button???
It is just extremely hard to find that part and no one seems to make them. I was hoping that LMC trucks would make it...and...maybe that is what I need to do is wait for a couple more years and see what comes out???

Yes, it will work except for the resume button, that's correct. If your old one works fine, I'd wait untill the right part comes along, however, if you need one badly, then the one listed on the e-bay ad will work in a pinch. Although it is not the correct part.

That's why I said buyer beware. It is extremely difficult to find that part for the 1978-1979, and a lot of sellers try to pass off the 1980-1986 part as the correct part for the 1978-1979, or even earlier so they can sell it at a premium $$$ to people who do not know the difference.
The 1980-1986 part is abundant by comparison, you see, and only fetches about half the $$$ as the 1978-1979 part would. So you see why a seller might be tempted to "fib" a little.
The same thing happens with the Factory stereo radio. A lot of 1980's radios, or the car radios become 1973-1979 truck radios, because they get more $$$ for them. However when the buyer gets it and discovers it wont fit, is where the problems arise.
