That is about right - $165 US. I do enough business, I usually get a 20% (or there-abouts) discount. You can have him ask for that - who knows, they may give it to him. I have always asked the dealership parts counter folks "Is that the best you can do?". I usually foillow that up with asking them to look at the number of old Ford vehicles I have - this also sems to help.
One question, I was reading in the warranty book that the EGR is covered in the warranty. Could this apply today with supply & install at the dealership?
It should be covered under the emissions warranty at no deductible. Some folks have said they think the emissions warranty only applies to specific states - I do not know for sure. My warranty book indicates it is covered as part of the 5 yr 100k warranty.

Just checked mine - says the same thing as yours. 5/100,000.
On your '05 the EGR valve would be covered by Ford of Canada under the emissions performance/defect warranty for a period of 5 years / 160,000 km. There would be no charge/deductable for this repair...
I agree with you DYD, I sent my truck in for an alternator and I had the premium care package or whatever it is called, they phoned me up informing me that parts alone were going to be $700. I asked if my warranty would cover it and the guy was like "Oh, yes I should have noticed you have the extended warranty". So if I had said nothing about it they would have charged me for the work even though it was warranty.
Mine was covered under the 5yr/100k mile warranty. I figure that when it's not covered it will either be deleted or I'll buy mine on eBay since they are pretty cheap on eBay. Just a thought.
I've had the same problem. My local dealer is great to deal with but with two previous vehicles, I've had the service writer call and tell me how much repairs would be even though I had Premium Care on both of them. I had to tell them about the warranty. You would think they would have a system in place in their computers that would tell them that you have the ext. warranty.
Extentend warranty?
On an average, Cost? Is it worth it and coverage??
Mark
I bought my truck used and it came with the truck, the coverage was bumper to bumper up to 150k km's, for me it was worth it. Had my alternator, heated seat and rear end all repaired under it.
Ive got a pefectly good one with just a few thousand miles on it if you end up needing it Ill practically give it away. PM me for a price if anyone is in need.
