im not at all worried about the installation looking origional, the way i see it if i can get an engine in this truck and keep it from sitting and just rusting away then im doing my part haha, it was my first truck so its not going anywhere....but the other option, which i dont like alot because i know i dont have the skill to do it is to rebuild the engine
with a good manual and a forum like this you might be surprised at what you could do, I would keep the motor that comes out of the truck when you get the cleveland in it and tear it down just for some experience or just keep it if you have room to store, when you do get the cleveland in the truck i think you are going to like, can I offer a suggestion in that have you thought of selling the torino with the engine in it I know the torinos will bring a good bit of money more than a 70 model truck, why not sell the torino and then buy a good used cleveland to put in your truck, I know if I had put the money that I have put into the three trucks into a mustang or torino I could get a lot better return on my investment if I ever decided to sell them,
Im also looking at possibly swapping in a 351c in place of the 302 in our 79 supercab. common sense says swap to a 351w, but with a few 351c's around here for cheap, if the 302 goes south, or I have extra time this summer, I may go 351c, and as has been said, dont let yourself be talked out of the cleveland, but DO talk yourself out of the manual trans....cant shift faster than an auto, and with the 351c you will not have to worry about being able to light the tires up. for our trucks I would stay away from 4v heads though, as it sounds like its going to be a daily driver/weekend warrior.
