Warm start problem
Happy to say this is the ONLY problem with my 84 Ranger 4x4 2.8 v6 5spd .Rebuilt the motor 2 years ago after 23 years and 300,000 miles....Problem is, after driving and sitting warm for maybe 15 min, if you try to restart it can be difficult to get it to restart. If you pull into a store to get a soda and come back out within 5 min. its starts easy but as soon as you accelerate up to hiway speed it will act like it is running out of fuel, let off the gas and it will slowly (5-8 sec.) regain power. Acts just like when 1 tank runs empty and you switch to the other tank (it is a dual tank mod.) I have noticed that the clear fuel filter at the carb is almost empty when I lift the hood when its hot, its full when cold. Had this exact problem before the rebuild with the old motorcraft 2150a carb,now running a 2100 motorcraft 269cfm carb off a 70 302 and it runs much stronger than stock ever did, fuel pump is new at time of rebuild and fuel lines are also stock config. Truck runs extremely well in all other respects and starts cold very well. EEC and all emissions have been eliminated as well, mpg is good 17/21. If it wasnt for this hot start cond. it would be perfect in all respects.......Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks.
