To fold it flat, there is a lever on the passenger side on the back. Pull it and it will fall flat. To open it back up, pull it and lift the seat up. To remove the seat, there is a black bar in the back near the floor. Lift it and it will unlatch the seat from the floor. I recommend you flatten the seat before removal. Then just slide it out.

These seats don't really fold flat, the top will fold flat on top of the bottom cushion, but the whole seat won't lay flat. To fold the top section down there is a lever on the passenger side {right side of the seat-right side of the vehicle} of the seat. Lift the lever and pull the seat down, or push if you are in the cargo area.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

To remove the seat there is a latch in the center of the seat at the floor in the back of the seat. Just get inside the cargo area and lift up on the handle witch will unlock the latch and then you use the handle to pull up on the seat. Once you unlatch the seat you pull up and back toward the rear of the truck and it will roll out as the front of the seat has wheels. Then you just take the seat out the rear of the car. It's not real heavy, it's just a little awkward.<o></o>

I've read that the 3rd row seat from a 97-02 Expedition will fit in the 3rd row on an Excursion. Anybody know for sure?

if you could that would be greatly appreciated. I have a 2000 EX that i bought without a 3rd row seat. I have a chance to get a 3rd row seat from a 99 Expedition. My understanding is that the seats from a 1997 - 2002 Expedition will interchange with a 99-2005 Excursion. Just haven't found anywhere on the net where it has been confirmed.

thanks
Jason

That is confirmed and by a couple folks right here IIRC.

Someone put the earlier model Expedition seat in as the back is raised up a bit for the two outboard passengers. It almost seems like molded-in headrests.

bigbillyboy: Monsta has answered you question about an expy 3rd row will fit in an excursion so here are some pics: Picture of both seat side by side upper left, picture of 01 Expy seat in 05 Ex upper right and picture of 01 Expy seat (in expy) feature that the EX does not have to make more floor storage lower left, so other than the extra feature the seats are pretty much the same.

Thank!

Thanks so much for all of the replies. It is very much appreciated. I guess I don't need to be afraid to look at those as well.

RACER, I'm in Portland, Or and I'm looking for a Tan Leather. I'm not sure how much shipping would be from the east coast...

Does the expy seat replacement have the child seat anchors in them?

the little metal hooks. Sometimes in the bottom back of the seat or in the folding area of the seat. Newer way of locking the child seat in better than the seat belt from the vehicle.
