Hello Noob here...

Hello from Idaho everyone... Great site. I found the site during an unpleasant search on information for my trucks transmission.

I have a 90 F-250 Extra Cab 4X4. The transmission puked all the fluid out on our way to snowshoe in Eastern Idaho over the holidays. It has the E40D in it.

With envy of those that have experience, tools and know-how, I paid excessively to have it fixed. Now that I am wiping tears from my eye's as I pay a $3400 bill for an upgraded rebuild, I wanted to send a Thank You to all forum members who post very graciously, so folks like myself can educate themselves.

Thank You for the Welcome. I know I was getting stuck pretty hard, but when you know no mechanics, have very little tools, and don't know much about the guts.... Then I guess you get to donate more of the green to those who do.

I have already learned a great deal about the truck already. I have owned many Fords in 20 yrs. Much to my dismay, I was never patient enough to do much more than superficial tinkering. This time I am really, really, mad I didn't keep my MINT 78 Ford my Grandfather sold me. Perhaps I can rowse some photos.

Thanks Again.

Where at in Eastern Id? I am in Missoula and when my tranny went out on my 89 F250 I had it done locally for less than 1/2 of that and 2 year warranty. how was the snow shoeing? I spent the day up at Lolo pass a few days ago and am heading up again in the morning. Great snow. I had to run to Spokane this am and lots of snow on Lookout as well.

Jadmt,
We are in Pocatello. I spent some time in your neck of the woods, it is a very beautiful area. We lived in CDA, ID for a couple of years, and oh how I miss the area. Unfortunately, the shoeing didn't happen, the "mood" was transported with the truck, and wrecker 45 miles back home. We hope to get again soon though. My kids sure enjoy it. Lolo is a really pretty area.

Be safe out there,
Lee
